on an impulse
Off to Miami!
The Faena is not for minimalists. If you’re tired of taupe and beige, and prefer your hotels with plenty of razzmatazz, then you’ve come to the right place.
Interiors are a riot of ruby red leather, turquoise velvet, and leopard print, with a dash of gold leaf, onyx and marble. Legendary Argentine developer Alan Faena enlisted film director Baz Luhrmann and his wife Catherine Martin, an Oscar-winning costume and production designer, to create a hotel that’s more like a movie set.
Stepping inside the double-height ‘cathedral’ lobby, with its bespoke murals and gilded columns, is like entering a rarefied world where anything is possible. Upbeat, unflappable staff ramp up the feeling that this is a place where capricious whims are celebrated and any request can be accommodated.
Then there’s the red and white pool, that’s straight out of a Busby Berkeley movie. You half expect a troupe of synchronised swimmers to leap out of the water. Take your pick from three outstanding restaurants (Pao is indeed our favorite!), three seriously sexy bars, a cabaret theatre, and the epic Terra Santa Healing House, offering treatments curated by Faena’s personal shaman.
There are so many dazzling options, you won’t know where to start. That’s why we’re suggesting a special Stay Longer offer: book three nights at Faena, and get an extra 24 hours on the house. (Valid through April 30th, 2018.)
