Day 1 Delhi |
Arrive in Delhi, the historic capital of India and get ready for a journey-of-a-lifetime. |
Day 2 Delhi |
Explore the Old City, steeped in history yet overflowing with every-day life. Feel the relentless pulse of humanity in Delhi's every corner. |
Day 3 Thiksey |
Take a domestic flight to Leh, and check-in at an all-inclusive luxury camp, in Thiksey. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, coming to know the camp and enjoying lunch and dinner at your own pace. |
Day 4 Thiksey |
Explore the village of Matho, visiting its famous Monastery, the only example of Tibetan Sakyapa sect in Ladakh. After lunch at the camp, visit an oracle. Oracles in Ladakh are fortune tellers, considered to have healing powers. Finish off the day with a hearty dinner at the camp. |
DAY 5 Thiksey |
Drive to Thiksey Monastery to attend the early morning Buddhist prayers. After an energy-boosting breakfast, embark on a full-day hike. Follow a small river up a narrow valley for around two hours until you reach the tea house at Changma, all the time taking in the beautiful and unusual rock formations and stunning views of the Stok range. Return to camp for dinner and relaxation. |
Day 6 Thiksey |
Drive up the Zanskar canyon to explore the village of Chilling, a settlement that has been home to metal smiths for centuries. After a leisurely lunch, head off to Hemis monastery, an example of the Red Hat sect. Built in 1630, Ladakh’s largest monastery, Hemis, is nothing less than impressive. Get a glimpse of the monks' every-day life. Return to camp in time for dinner. |
Day 7 Diskit |
Venture out to the region's most awe-inspiring and dramatic landscapes, passing through the Khardung-La Pass, the highest motorable road in the world. Take in sweeping views of the lush green Indus Valley. Continue past the famous, utterly dramatic, sand dunes of Nubra. Check-in at an all-inclusive luxury camp, and be welcomed with a delicious dinner. |
Day 8 Diskit |
Drive to the picturesque village of Sumur, located across the Shyok and Nubra Rivers. Meet the amazing women behind the Women’s Alliance of Nubra and, passing by the farmlands of Sumur, reach a traditional local farm for a sumptuous traditional lunch. Then, hop on the double hamp of a Bactrian camel for an adventurous ride on the sand dunes of the Hunder cold desert, or opt for a hike up to a sacred hidden lake. Dinner at the camp awaits. |
Day 9 Thiksey |
Drive to the Diskit Gompa, the oldest and largest Buddhist monastery in Nubra Valley. Perched on a hill, it belongs to the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Marvel at impressive works of art such as the statue of the "crowned Buddha" in the prayer hall. Return to Thiksey to enjoy dinner and spend the night at the luxury camp. |

Take a domestic flight to Delhi, and spend the last day of this amazing journey at leisure. |

Transfer to the airport for your flight home. |
